How do I enable photo posting from RSS feeds?

1) Click on the Social Media icon on the top of your dlvr.it dashboard

2) Click on the social account you want to turn on photo posting

3) Click on Edit

4) Click on the Advanced tab

5) Toggle the Post As Photo

6) Click Save

Photo Posting Specs

  • Minimum image dimensions: 150 x 150 pixels
  • Maximum media file size: 3 MB (max media file size that can be posted to Twitter via API.)
  • Supported Media Types: jpg, png, gif

dlvr.it looks for images to post in the following order:

1. Images in feed item body

2. Feed item media enclosures

3. Scan the page linked to in the RSS items to look for the OpenGraph tags.

At each step we look for the first image that meets our requirements (file type, size min / max). If no requirements are meant, the photo will not post.

I don't see the Post Photos checkbox on my paid account. Has these been fully rolled out?

I'm also unable to see the checkbox for post photos. The Input Active one is there though. Paid account also.

    Hello,

Stephen and garethpauljones did you find the Post Photos check box as described in the tutorial? I was in your account and it is there.

I got a very prompt response from "Mark B." who said they had found and fixed a small bug that had stopped the option appearing and it's now working as expected. All fixed within a very short amount of time - very pleased with the service!

Hi Bill. Yes, I now see the Post Photos checkbox. Haven't tested it yet. Hopefully it picks up the Retina version of the image on my site, not the non-Retina image... May have to make the Retina image the default to ensure that.

To be explicit, I added a "link" tag to my Atom feed with the URL for my Retina article illustrations and images are now showing up on Twitter. Although that (or turning images on in dlvr.it) has broken by Google+ feed. But I have 71x as many followers on Twitter, so I guess I'll sacrifice Google+. Next to test Facebook without an explicit Open Graph hint.

Is anybody else having problems with their Google+ feed after turning on photo posting? If there's no obvious solution, I'll just downgrade my account from US$9.99 a month to the free version and kill it.

For the record, I'm not as happy as Gareth with the support on these forums. It took two weeks for someone to get back to us about the broken checkbox. Which paid level are you on, Gareth, for Mark B. to get back to you promptly? Ultimate or Enterprise? I just noticed that a query I posted 18 months ago about Weibo support has had no replies, not even a "we can't discuss future plans" or "there's no API for that on their end" or whatever. (Weibo is the equivalent of Twitter in China with more than 100 million active users.)

Hi Stephen. I'm on the Pro account at 9.99/mo but I also posted a support ticket right after posting on the forum which seemed to be the best way to get a fast response.

Thanks, Gareth. Didn't even notice that "Submit a Request" link at the top of the page. I'll file one about the break in Google+ for me after adding updating my Atom feed. (I did one test post with photo posting active that worked before explicitly adding photo information to my Atom feed.)

Photo's do often not load completely in the Twitter timelime. The source is our RSS-feed. You can check the problem on Twitter via @ds_Apeldoorn. You might have to scroll a bit to see the incomplete pictures.
Any idea what causes the problem?

Shouldn't checking this box post all the images to Facebook instead of just one? Or is that not how this works?

So, if I have a news item with a headline and 12 photos, it only posts to Facebook the headline, the one photo, and a linkback to the website. I want all 12 photos (or 2 or 3 or 5) to post over to Facebook.
