Posting Stopped: URL MONTHLY RATE LIMIT EXCEEDED

Since May, 2015, bit.ly has enforced a rate limit for link shortening for its subscribers.

If you hit your rate limit, all attempts to shorten links via bit.ly will fail until the rate limit is reset at the end of the month.

This results in dlvr.it not posting to your routes set to use bit.ly shortener.

You can view the bit.ly rate limit errors here:
https://app.dlvr.it/deliveries/destinations

The errors look like this:

May,14 2015 12:05:07 PM  Failure when shortening URL: MONTHLY_RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED

To ensure your posting continues you can easily update your shortener settings to use the dlvr.it shortener. You can easily change that for all your routes here:

https://app.dlvr.it/settings/shorteners

Below is a recent communication from bit.ly regarding rate limits.

Hi folks,

Please be aware that beginning today, we at Bitly will be enforcing a monthly rate limit of 10,000 hits to our /v3/shorten API endpoint (http://dev.bitly.com/links.html#v3_shorten) for free account users. You can check your current usage on the settings page at https://bitly.com/a/settings/advanced

If you have further questions, or would like to speak with someone about paid options to increase your monthly rate limits, please feel free to fill out the form at http://bitly.is/1JM1faU and someone will contact you shortly. Or if you prefer, email us at api@bit.ly with a description of how you are using our API, what you want to accomplish with it, and an estimate of your monthly usage, and we’ll get back to you shortly with advice and next steps.

General rate limit information is available at http://dev.bitly.com/rate_limiting.html and best practices for avoiding redundant API calls can be found at http://dev.bitly.com/best_practices.html

Thanks very much, and happy shortening!
